Brigid has extensive experience advising governments on the development and implementation of social and legal policy. She understands the sensitivities of public sector operating environments. Brigid’s experience in the not-for-profit sector grounds her understanding of the complexities of delivering services to vulnerable people.

Influential work

  • Supported a large Australian Government agency to develop a strategic policy and investment framework
  • Managed a project to help an intergovernmental working group understand how the interpretation and application of legislation was impacting a vulnerable cohort seeking social support
  • Conducted a capability and strategy review for a statutory authority
  • Worked with the Department of Social Services and the National Disability Insurance Agency to minimise legal risks associated with the development and implementation of the National Disability Insurance Scheme
  • Worked on urgent reforms to the Native Title Act 1993 and advised on the application of that Act in complex settings.

Outside of Nous

Brigid volunteers as at the Australian Capital Territory Women’s Legal Centre, providing legal advice to vulnerable clients. Prior to joining Nous, she worked as a lawyer at the Australian Government Solicitor. In this role she also undertook secondments to the Commonwealth Attorney-General’s Department and the (then) Department of Employment and Workplace Relations.

Brigid was the Treasurer of the ACT Women’s Lawyers Association and has volunteered at Canberra Community Law, the Asia Pacific Refugee Rights Network, Refugee Legal and as an AIME mentor. She co-founded the Public Interest Law Network at The University of Melbourne.

Brigid plays soccer for the Australian National University and listens to a ridiculous number of podcasts on all manner of topics.
