Jackson has over five years of experience providing policy and strategic advice to government and the private sector. He is passionate about collaborative solutions and effectively using data analytics and visualisation, which he has brought to extensive work across sectors including skills and higher education. This builds on his academic background in sociology and public economics.

Influential work

  • Consulted nationally for significant vocational education and training (VET) reforms, including co-designing the National Skills Commission and Skills Organisations and testing the Senior Skills Officials Network VET Reform Roadmap
  • Conducted skills analysis for multiple governments, including clustering occupations based on skill similarities, forecasting jurisdictional and regional skills needs, and mapping relationships between qualifications and occupations
  • Worked in NSW Government to support the negotiation of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Full Scheme Agreement, which set ongoing governance and responsibilities as well as $41 billion in funding
  • Reviewed the performance of Smart and Skilled, the NSW contestable VET funding model, and recommended system improvements that have met provider and student needs
  • Reviewed course architecture for metropolitan university faculties, assessing portfolios and individual courses and recommend new courses.

Outside of Nous

Jackson previously worked at the Eidos Institute, helping to design MindHive, an online platform for crowdsourcing expertise to address policy and business problems. He holds a Master of Arts (Philosophy, Politics and Economics) (Honours) from Oxford University.

In his spare time...

Jackson is an avid Sydney Swans supporter and will continue to go to Melbourne every time they make a grand final, no matter how bad the result.
