Rachael offers a wealth of experience in the private and public sector, most recently in the mining, gas and natural resources sectors. Her focus is on helping highly regulated organisations become more commercial- and customer-focused through strategy and business transformation. With her government experience, Rachael is uniquely skilled to balance the public policy challenges facing government with the commercial realities of the private sector and has a track record in achieving constructive and successful negotiations between diverse stakeholder groups.

Influential work

  • Led the business transformation of the mineral and gas tenure approval process for the Queensland Government, responding to industry needs to implement a transparent and customer centric approach
  • Delivered service framework alternatives as part of the Queensland Government’s efficiency agenda, focusing on innovation in service delivery and integrated customer centric service models
  • Working with a financial services firm, designed and implemented a strategy to leverage market deregulation and double revenues by introducing new services and securing new clients
  • Redesigned business processes for a mid-sized financial services firm, increasing revenue by 15% within 12 months
  • Working with the board of directors of a small private company to cut operating losses by 30% within 18 months and generate liquidity for shareholders by rolling the company into a publicly-listed entity.

Outside of Nous

Prior to joining Nous, Rachael was deputy director-general for Minerals and Energy Resources in the Queensland Government. She transformed the government’s approach to mining and gas approvals, working across regulatory agencies to delivering responsive government services. Rachael has also worked in the private sector for 15 years in the financial services and publishing sectors in Australia, Canada and the UK, with a focus on strategy execution and business transformation.

Rachael has a Master of Business Administration – with a focus on entrepreneurship and strategy – from Queensland University of Technology; and a Bachelor of Commerce and Laws from Bond University. She is also a member of the management committee for the Queensland Exploration Committee.
