Steve enables business leaders to drive their digital agenda by creating personalised customer experiences, new business models and improved operational capabilities. He combines digital strategy, innovation, leadership alignment, strategic facilitation, design thinking, agile delivery and cultural change capabilities with the global resources and IP of Nous. Steve’s unique skills and digital insights have been forged through senior investment banking, technology, management consulting, creative agency and executive leadership roles across Australia, the USA and Europe.

Influential work

  • Advised a Victorian electricity distribution business on intelligent asset management, business and technology strategy, capital planning, and design and implementation of an Agile IT operating model
  • Partnered with major Australian insurer on program to simplify products, processes and platforms for the digital era, enabling agile delivery of systems integration services
  • Led leadership and cultural alignment strategy to support global bank acquiring a majority stake in regional bank, enabling successful merger integration
  • Led cultural transformation program to enable SBS to become a more modern, digital media business, supported by a strategic partnership with Walking the Talk
  • Working on behalf of NSW Government, led Independent Certifier team on the A$1.2bn Sydney electronic ticketing project, checking solution delivery had been completed in accordance with the project deed.

Outside of Nous

Steve originally qualified as a Chartered Accountant in Australia and moved to London with Coopers & Lybrand (now PwC) in a corporate finance role. He then joined the mergers and acquisitions group of Shearson Lehman Hutton in New York. Returning home to Australia, he has held senior roles including managing director, Australia of the global creative agency Imagination; and principal, management consulting with Arup, the design and engineering firm. Most recently, Steve was global advisor, technology & innovation for Fujitsu; and digital partner at Cognizant, where he led digital strategy projects and brought their global offerings around data, analytics, AI, internet of things (IoT) and cloud computing to enterprise clients in Australia. He is an accomplished author and public speaker on technology, innovation and consulting.

Steve holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of New South Wales and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance & Investment from the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (FINSIA). He is an accredited lead facilitator of Walking the Talk and has a cloud practitioner certification from Amazon Web Services.

In his spare time...

Steve’s adventures have seen him climb Mt Kilimanjaro, walk 2,500kms on the Camino de Santiago and in 2013 support a re-enactment of Sir Ernest Shackleton’s century-old Antarctic survival journey.
