Nous Group is pleased to announce the appointment of Richard Bolt PSM as Principal. With over 3 decades experience in senior roles in the Victorian public sector, Mr Bolt’s appointment adds to Nous’ strength in public policy consulting.

Mr Bolt joins Nous from his most recent role as the Vice-President of Strategy & Innovation at Swinburne University. Prior to that, he was Victorian Secretary of the Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources (DEDJTR); Secretary of the Department of Primary Industries; and Secretary of the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.We are

Mr Bolt is a recognised leader and innovator on issues of national significance. He is highly sought after for his thought leadership and advice on complex issues including energy transition, infrastructure, transport, economic development and, education reform. In 2019, Mr Bolt was a member of the Stakeholder Advisory Group to Chief Scientist Alan Finkel for the development of a national hydrogen strategy. He was also a member of the Advisory Panel to the Energy Security Board on the post-2025 design of the national electricity market.

In 2018 Mr Bolt was awarded a Public Service Medal in the Queen’s Birthday Honours, in recognition of outstanding leadership and innovation. He has a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering, a Master of Public Policy and Management, and is co-author of two books on Australia’s security.
