Australia’s best place to work is also one of its most diverse.

Just months after Nous Group topped the list of the Best Places to Work, the international management consultancy has now been listed as an Inclusive Employer 2021-2022 by Diversity Council Australia.

The recognition of Nous as an Inclusive Employer follows our participation in the Inclusion@Work Index and is based on a survey of 193 Nousers in Australia. The Inclusive Employer 2021-2022 announcement was made on 9 December.

The Inclusion@Work Index compares diversity at Nous to other members of Diversity Council Australia and to the Australian workforce more generally. It found that, compared to the other cohorts, Nous has a greater share of its team who have one of more of their cultural backgrounds being non-English-speaking, who are multilingual and who are aged under 30.

The Diversity Council Australia analysis found several data points that demonstrate Nous’ commitment to diversity:

  • 92 per cent of Nousers report their organisation is taking action to create a diverse and inclusive workplace, compared to 57 per cent among the general Australian workforce.
  • 85 per cent of Nousers report top leaders demonstrate a visible commitment to diversity and inclusion, compared to 63 per cent among the general Australian workforce.
  • 88 per cent of Nousers report they have the same opportunities as anyone else of their ability/experience, regardless of their age, culture/ethnicity, disability, gender, Indigenous background, or sexual orientation, compared to 73 per cent among the general Australian workforce.
  • 96 per cent of Nousers report that people treat each other with respect, compared to 78 per cent among the general Australian workforce.

Tim Orton, CEO and Managing Principal of Nous Group, said the result reflected Nous’ efforts to ensure its team reflected the full breadth of Australian diversity.

“The things that make Nous a great place to work are also the things that support diversity, from our encouragement for people to bring their whole selves to work to our flexible work philosophy that gives our team agency over their working arrangements,” Tim said. “We do these things because they are the right things to do, but they also bring with them benefits to our team and to our clients.”

Sally Pritchard, Chief People Officer at Nous Group, said Nous continues to work hard to create an environment that allows all its people to flourish.

“In recent years we are proud to have welcomed a wide array of employee networks at Nous,” Sally said. “Christians with Nous, Nous Proud, the Nous Women’s Network, Multicultural Nous and the soon to be established Wellness and Disability Network are all helping our team have a sense of belonging and reach their full potential.”
