Outside of Nous

Abdel began his career in research, holding a research position in a neurophysiology lab at Toronto Western Hospital while assisting a team that studied Near and Middle Eastern civilizations at the University of Toronto.

He transitioned into consulting by joining Lough Barnes Consulting Group, a boutique consulting firm based in Toronto that operates in healthcare and the broader public sector. There, he led consulting engagements in service lines including jurisdictional research, strategic planning, amalgamation, organizational design, compensation analysis, program evaluation, project management and process improvement.

Abdel grew the firm’s client base by extending its presence in the provincial government and expanding into new client markets, including public health organizations, municipalities and community hospitals.
