Abu is an experienced advisor on strategic and technology-enabled business transformation in the financial services and communications sectors. He has worked in consulting for over eight years and holds qualifications in business administration, technology management and engineering. Abu applies a logical mindset and collaborative approach to understand client issues and devise effective solutions to complex organisational challenges.

Influential work

  • Performed business analysis and project coordination on risk and compliance in the divesture of an Australian bank’s wealth division
  • Managed the program assurance stream on a transformational program at a South African telco, replacing fragmented legacy systems to reduce operating costs
  • Conducted technical reviews on South African open road tolling, resulting in a country-first ‘multi-lane free-flow’ implementation, handling seamless classification and tolling of vehicles along a network of 40 tolling points with daily volumes exceeding 120,000 vehicles
  • Served as project engineer on a traffic control centre for overload control and monitoring of heavy vehicles, resulting in improved road safety and prolonged life of a strategic national highway.

Outside of Nous

Before joining Nous, Abu was a manager at Deloitte (Australia) and PwC (South Africa), where he consulted on transformation programs in financial services and communications. Prior to that he was a project engineer at Toll Infrastructure Services (South Africa), a consultancy specialising in project advisory services to the road transportation sector.

Abu has an MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management, which included an international exchange at London Business School. He holds undergraduate engineering degrees from the University of Pretoria, South Africa.

In his spare time...

Abu enjoys coastal walks and brunching with his wife. He is also a keen follower of technology and automotive trends, and has recently attempted road cycling.
