Prior to Nous, Alan worked in professional services and consulted for firms in a wide range of sectors including construction, financial services, health insurance and telecommunications. Clients routinely praise Alan for his diligence, work quality and ability to help them achieve hard-hitting results in the areas where they need it most.

Influential work

  • Partnered with directors of a global industrial services company to design and deliver a business acumen program for 30 senior leaders
  • Led the delivery of a commercial acumen program for 200 leaders at an Australian Stock-Exchange (ASX)-listed, multinational construction company to drive better decision-making
  • Led the facilitation of a change management program for 30 leaders at an ASX-listed telecommunications company to support and implement change initiatives
  • In partnership with IBM, guided the development of a $10M Australian Research Council grant application for a research centre at the University of Melbourne that was established in 2018
  • Worked with the head of fundraising to develop and implement a $50M fundraising campaign for the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute to support future medical breakthroughs.

Outside of Nous

Before joining Nous, Alan was a consultant and facilitator at BTS, a global learning & development consultancy headquartered in Sweden. Prior to that he was a business development professional at several public and private sector organisations in Australia including the University of Melbourne, Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research and Bio-Link Australia Pty Ltd.

Alan holds a PhD in Medical Biology and a Bachelor of Biomedical Science from the University of Melbourne.

In his spare time...

Alan channels his inner rock star by playing the piano or guitar and singing along to the music. He also enjoys travelling, reading, yoga and playing tennis.
