Ben is a recent graduate of the Australian National University where a double degree in Economics and Actuarial Studies has given him a strong background in quantitative and analytical thinking. During his studies he developed a broad understanding of the public sector through working in the Department of Infrastructure, Department of Human Services and the Clean Energy Regulator.

Influential work

  • Developed an economic and infrastructure priorities review of the Fitzroy and Central West Queensland Region while working at KPMG
  • Led a review of a national not-for-profit organisation’s risk management processes
  • Undertook a review of the Department of Human Service’s ICT costing team’s budget approval processes, focusing on minimising budget slack.

Outside of Nous

Before joining Nous, Ben worked at the Clean Energy Regulator as a Junior Economic Analyst, during which he reported on, monitored and analysed the Emissions Reduction Fund. Prior to this he worked with the Department of Infrastructure to analyse traffic volume on the National Land Transport Network.

Outside of his work and studies Ben volunteered with 180 Degrees Consulting, where he led a team conducting a review of the National Youth Science Forum’s risk assessment processes. Ben was highly active at Burgmann College at the ANU where he was a sports representative and treasurer of the student residents’ association as well as a member of the College Board in his final year.

In his spare time...

Ben enjoys being active through mountain bike riding and recreational team sports. On the weekends he supports the North Queensland Cowboys or plays board games with friends.
