Bessie has several years' experience working in executive support roles in the Australian and UK governments. She has a proven record of effectively supporting CEOs and senior executives through major projects and providing exceptional stakeholder and senior government liaison, engagement and relationship management. She is experienced in program planning and implementation with not-for-profit and government organisations; and a keen interest in innovative and efficient ways of working, research and analysis, and project coordination.

Influential work

  • Provided high-level executive support to the Australian Statistician and wider senior executive service at the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) in the lead-up to, and throughout, the 2016 Census, Senate Inquiry into the 2016 Census, Senate Estimates and the ABS’ organisational transformation
  • Provided high-level executive support to the executive director of Open Data and Government Innovation in the UK’s Cabinet Office throughout departmental transformation and machinery of government changes
  • Initiated and chaired the ABS Executive Assistant Committee to provide support, training, career development opportunities and general cohesion to the ABS’ executive assistants
  • Co-facilitated senior civil servant code clubs at the UK’s Cabinet Office to drive its data agenda and convey the importance of coding in government for efficiency.

Outside of Nous

Bessie holds a Bachelor of Arts (Global) from Monash University, one year of which she completed in Malaysia as part of the Inter-Campus Exchange Program. She also completed a political and economic internship at the Australian High Commission, Kuala Lumpur.

In her spare time...

Bessie loves to travel and experience new cultures: she has travelled to 36 countries and lived and worked in Malaysia and the UK. She also enjoys team sports and keeping active.
