David is an education sector and data analytics expert at Nous. He has worked with senior leaders from over five universities and state education departments regularly over the last four years. He brings particular strength in the development of effective strategies in changing regulated competitive markets, particularly in higher education. He can also quickly identify and focus clients’ key issues and work collaboratively with them to develop creative implementable solutions that are underpinned by robust and innovative analytics.

Influential work

  • Project managed the development of a new pricing strategy for an Australian university to respond to major policy and funding changes in the higher education sector
  • Led the development and implementation of a new academic workload model, research expectation and teaching expectations for a university in order to improve academic productivity and efficiency
  • Analysed the student record data of a university to identify insights into the retention and attrition of students, identifying opportunities for the to develop an evidence-based retention strategy
  • Led the redesign of undergraduate course structures for an Australian university to improve efficiency and attractiveness, position the university to grow market share, improve student retention and reduce costs
  • Led strategic planning processes for various industry superannuation funds, arts organisations and university business units.

Outside of Nous

Before joining Nous, David worked as a corporate lawyer for over six years at two leading international law firms in Australia and Vietnam.

Outside of Nous, David is a committee member of the Northern Community Legal Centre and Collingwood Harriers Athletics Club and a director of Loop Platform.

David holds a Master of Business Administration from Melbourne Business School and Bachelors of Laws (Honours) and Arts from the University of Melbourne. He also recently completed a Data Science and Data Engineering Bootcamp.

In his spare time...

After a childhood spent avoiding physical education classes, David now spends the majority of his spare time running, cycling and kayaking. Occasionally he combines these endeavours in multi-sport races.
