Hamish is a consultant with a strong quantitative analysis and research background. He has experience in finance, energy, education and human services. Before joining Nous, Hamish held positions both in Australia and the UK working in the financial services, energy and public health sectors. His diverse experience with private, public and not-for-profit organisations provides a strong background in business and a developed skillset in quantitative and qualitative analysis. Hamish enjoys using data to enable organisations and policy-makers to make more informed decisions.

Influential work

  • Helped a ‘Group of Eight’ university develop a model to assess the impact of alternative graduation models on ceremony attendance and student experience
  • Worked directly with the chief executive officer of a health sector NFPs to develop and implement a corporate partnerships strategy, securing multiple new partnerships over 18 months
  • Engaged stakeholders from the tertiary education sector – including through focus groups, consultations and written submissions – to understand the impact of proposed changes to the Australian education model on tertiary providers
  • Developed a demand model to analyse Victoria’s future VET training needs in the early childhood education and care sector
  • Joined the energy sector advisory team for a privately-owned merchant bank; providing recommendations on mergers and acquisitions, capital raising and initial public offerings.

Outside of Nous

Hamish has a diverse work history, both in Australia and overseas, having held commercial roles in the banking and energy sectors and technical roles in oil and gas and metals exploration. He also held a part-time role in corporate partnerships for a health sector NFP that aims to reduce social violence in Australia.

Hamish holds a Master of Science (Earth Science), a Graduate Diploma of Science (Geology) and a Bachelor of Commerce (Economics) from The University of Melbourne.

In his spare time...

Hamish enjoys hockey and ocean swimming; growing up in Perth he is also fond of the beach, the outdoors and the Fremantle Dockers.
