John has over 15 years of business and consulting experience within the education and human services sectors in Australia and the Middle East. He has led large and complex international projects; including strategic planning, operating model design, organisation restructuring and transformation, and establishing training academies and universities. His strong project management and problem-solving skills; underpinned by his hands-on experience working at schools, universities, and education authorities; allows him to understand his clients’ challenges and develop implementable pragmatic solutions.

Influential work

  • Developed a successful ERC relocation and accommodation business case for New South Wales (NSW) Cabinet submission; designed an assessment framework to assess functional relocation suitability
  • Reviewed and designed a customer service delivery model for a NSW Government agency
  • Established a national university in the Middle East with strong focus on science, technology engineering and mathematics (STEM); medical programs and research; including developing strategic and operating plans, an academic programs portfolio and a research agenda
  • Developed and implemented a holistic assessment framework for a police training academy, conducting gap analysis and producing operational and academic recommendations
  • Led the development and roll-out of a public-private-partnership program for vocational training in the Middle East to address the high unemployment rate and align sector outcomes to national job market needs.

Outside of Nous

Prior to joining Nous, John has helped several NSW and Victorian Government departments improve service delivery, enhance operational efficiencies and deliver robust and successful business cases for Cabinet submission. He assisted PwC Dubai establish its education practice, and led several influential projects including the establishment of a national university and the design and roll-out of a public-private-partnership program that helped create and train for over 10,000 jobs for Saudi women.

John’s career in education began as an astronomy, physics, and science teacher. He then went on to work in the Strategy-Policy Unit and Schools Inspection Bureau in the Dubai Education Authority.

John holds a Master of Business Administration from Heriot-Watt University from Edinburgh Business School, a Bachelor of Science (physics) from Notre Dame University, and a Project Management Professional Certificate from the Project Management Institute.

John loves astro-photography, traveling with his partner, playing tennis, bowling and renovating properties.
