Jonathan is an experienced public services consultant who has worked on design, digital and change projects across the UK and Australia over the last five years. A trained user experience designer, he works across the entire design process – from determining strategic intent, understanding user needs and synthesising insights; to sketching ideas, building prototypes and implementing final products. He is passionate about the pragmatism of design and using digital strategy and agile to drive organisational transformation.

Influential work

  • Managed Patchwork; a digital application to improve communication and collaboration between public sector practitioners to drive organisational and cultural transformation, and which is used by over 6,200 workers in Australia
  • Managed the design and development of a government-based social justice digital initiative from proof-of-concept to working prototype, using human-centred design and agile approaches
  • Managed the co-design and change management of an improved experience for those applying for a family violence intervention orders in Victoria
  • Served as Australian lead for Casserole Club; a micro-volunteering digital platform that enables cooks to share meals with older, socially isolated members of the community, transitioning municipalities from service providers to facilitators.

Outside of Nous

Originally from the UK, Jonathan was part of the national graduate leadership and management programme at the Local Government Association in Westminster. In 2014, he moved to Australia to support the opening of FutureGov Australia.

Jonathan holds a Bachelor of Arts in sociology from Durham University (UK) and postgraduate diploma in Leadership and Management from The City & Guilds of London Institute.

He has gained professional qualifications in user experience design from General Assembly and is an AgilePM of the DSDM agile method. He is also a member of the Service Design Melbourne committee, and has served on the board of governors for a secondary school in North London.

In his spare time...

Jonathan is a competitive triathlete, runner and cyclist; and won a bronze medal at the 2013 European Triathlon Championships. He is also an avid race cycler, photographer, sketchnoter and cartoonist.
