Joshua is an experienced consultant with an interdisciplinary approach to solving problems. He combines an international economic and scientific background with a mind for strategic and organisational challenges. He is equally at home working to solve data problems, and facilitating conversation to reach consensus. Clients value Joshua’s ability to quickly understand their context and work constructively and collaboratively. His experience spans government, private and not-for-profit entities across diverse sectors including finance, social services, defence, migration, security, health and education.

Influential work

  • Developed a digital workforce strategy for the information and communications technology division of the Australian Department of Immigration and Border Protection, including a detailed model of resource requirements for the future
  • Developed a complete risk management tool for the Australian Department of Social Services to mitigate risks for more than $1B worth of program expenditure
  • Developed an activities-based financial projection business model for a public trustee, delivering financial services to lower socio-economic status and vulnerable individuals
  • Conducted a performance review of paediatric health outreach services delivered across New South Wales (NSW), requiring extensive stakeholder engagement across multiple levels of the NSW health system
  • Led data analysis for a functional and efficiency review of the Australian Department of Taxation.

Outside of Nous

Outside of Nous Joshua has worked in science communication, as an advisor to a big-data start-up, and as a mentor for not-for-profit consulting. He has run community workshops for mental health, and conducted economic research on women’s health in Italy.

Josh has recently completed a master of quantitative economics and finance from The Sorbonne in Paris, and also holds honours degrees in advanced science from The Australian National University, and in specialist studies from University of Copenhagen.

In his spare time...

Joshua enjoys being in water. He swims regularly, and once rowed in a dragon boat down the Grand Canal of Venice.
