Julian is a senior consultant in Nous' Queensland office who primarily works in public policy. He is an experienced public policy professional who has worked with and for various Australian and Queensland government agencies. He has collaborated with a range of organisations to design solutions to policy problems, develop compelling strategies and improve their performance. He has a background in intergovernmental relations, health and regulatory reform.

Influential work

  • Developed an environmental statutory authority’s strategy to focus its effort on what really matters, and aligned the organisation’s structure to deliver the new strategy
  • Designed a practical model to improve post-school pathways for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in Queensland
  • Helping a number of sporting organisation to improve the way they work together for the progress of the sport in Australia
  • Developed strategies with a statutory authority to increase the number of people voting in elections and improve the way the authority interacts with voters
  • Developed an approach for regional community engagement for one of Australia’s leading energy companies to improve their economic contribution to the area.

Outside of Nous

Before joining Nous, Julian worked at the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, where he focused particularly on intergovernmental relations, health and regulatory reform. Before that, he held roles in intergovernmental relations and regulatory reform in the Australian Department of Finance and Queensland Treasury.

Julian holds qualifications in Law and Business (Public Relations) from the Queensland University of Technology, and a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the College of Law. He is admitted to the Supreme Court of Queensland as a legal practitioner.

In his spare time...

Julian is a sports, news and politics junkie (not necessarily in that order). He enjoys helping out at his local rugby club and, when he’s lucky, skiing.
