Katie’s degrees in sustainable development and economics provide her with a unique perspective when analysing complicated social issues. Her strengths lie in research, collaboration and problem-solving; making her well placed to deliver appropriate, innovative solutions to clients. She has a keen interest in leveraging public policy development and implementation to drive sustainable improvement across all sectors in Australia.

Influential work

  • Delivered two cycles of the cornerstone assurance program for the Department of Jobs and Small Business’ (DJSB) jobactive employment services contract
  • Managed the DJSB’s Quality Assurance Team to increase the accuracy and consistency of audit assessments during a 2018 national audit of employment services spending
  • Analysed the DJSB’s compliance data from the last 5 years, identifying and communicating notable trends and providing recommendations.
  • Published an article exploring the benefits and implications of the Public Expenditure and Financial Accountability (PEFA) framework for the Government of Mozambique, and contributed to a PEFA report that was accepted by the Government
  • Led a team of volunteer student consultants to research and deliver an outcomes-focused social impact evaluation for local not-for-profit organisation, Marymead.

Outside of Nous...

Most recently Katie was a junior economist for DJSB; where her responsibilities included data modelling and analysis, stakeholder liaison and program management. She also has experience working in an economic consulting company in Mozambique, analysing the government’s public financial management practices. She contributed to the completion of a Public Expenditure and Financial Accountability report, which explored indicators of the government’s financial management and proposed recommendations for improvements.

Katie was a consultant and team leader for 180 Degrees Consulting in 2017. She holds a Graduate Diploma in Economics from the Australian National University and a Bachelor of Environmental Management from University of Queensland.

In her spare time...

Katie enjoys all things crafty and arty and spends a lot of time in the garage doing pottery, basket weaving and painting. She also adores being outside in the bush.
