Mary has a diverse background in law and public policy. She has worked on European Union (EU) policy and has an extensive knowledge of inter-governmental relations and deal making. Mary brings her international experience to an Australian context. She has an ability to engage a variety of stakeholders in both the private and public sectors. Having presented at conferences and facilitated workshops, Mary has a passion for communicating ideas.

Influential work

  • Presented at international conferences in the areas of international law, conflict prevention and climate change
  • Co-edited a book titled ‘A Gendered Lens for the Prevention of Genocide and Mass Atrocities’ published by Palgrave Macmillan
  • Contributed to and presented the EU Task Force Report on the prevention of mass atrocities to the EU Commission in Brussels and the UNHCR in Geneva
  • Facilitated workshops with EU Defence Ministries
  • Developed and implemented a programme to improve English language courses in primary and high schools in Barcelona.

Outside of Nous

Before joining Nous, Mary worked on European Union policy for the prevention of mass atrocities, an area in which she has also published and presented at conferences. Mary managed projects for the United Nations Association of Spain and facilitated workshops between EU Defence Ministries. She has also worked on improving English language programmes for the Education Department of Catalunya, Spain.

In Australia, Mary assisted barristers in private and public law matters while completing her Juris Doctor at The University of Melbourne. Mary also holds a Master of Philosophy from The University of Barcelona and a Bachelor of International Studies from The University of Adelaide.

In her spare time...

Mary spends most of her spare time chasing the surf. When there are no waves, she could be painting or practising Bikram yoga.
