Matt brings over 15 years of experience in senior public and private sector roles, working closely with executives across strategy, evaluation and operations. Matt has managed important projects across the NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment, including ministerial engagement. Matt combines deep analysis, use of evidence and an engaging style to develop and test solutions with clients in a collaborative and impactful way.

Influential work

  • Project managed a review of the NSW Environmental Trust to maximise its environmental impact and develop its inaugural long-term strategy
  • Developed a five-year strategic plan for the Botanic Gardens and Centennial Parklands
  • Designed and developed a new fee-for-service revenue strategy for a TAFE, which is expected to deliver more than $25 million in the short-term and more than $100 million in the medium-long term
  • Designed a statistical map for the St Vincent de Paul Society to understand where to focus its assistance for fire-affected communities
  • Created a detailed insights report on future skills needs for Rio Tinto to equip future generations with the skills required to thrive in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Outside of Nous

Before joining Nous, Matt was a commercial business advisor in Sydney for New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, NZ’s business development agency, with 40 offices globally. NZTE’s purpose is to support businesses to grow bigger, better and faster into international markets. Matt advised and consulted over 50 companies on how to grow, helping businesses solve their toughest challenges in exporting around the world.

Prior to joining NZTE, Matt worked for over 10 years at Nestle, the world’s largest fast-moving consumer goods company. At Nestle, Matt held various sales, category and operations roles in Australia, the UK and New Zealand. In Australia he led a business team across category, marketing, supply and finance. This involved writing the strategy and delivering the two-to-three-year plan for the business unit.

 

 

In his spare time...

Matt is a passionate sports fan, particularly at community level, and still plays cricket and touch rugby. He loves intrepid travel, exploring national parks around Australia and getting off the beaten track.
