Michael has a highly diverse skillset, which includes strategy, finance, digital, transformation and governance and is complimented by experience across the corporate, small-medium enterprise, public and not-for-profit sectors. His experience includes leading transformation strategy development and implementation in the public sector; and 15 years in commercial and technology leadership roles across Wesfarmers, one of Australia's largest and most respected companies. Michael uses a collaborative, adaptable, transformational leadership style to enable clients to understand possibilities, identify feasible options, articulate plans, and achieve strategic objectives that deliver significant commercial and/or social outcomes.

Influential work

  • Implemented new sales, planning, logistics, procurement and reporting processes for Wesfarmers CSBP; avoiding head-count increase after a 65% capacity expansion
  • Coordinated stakeholders and technology delivery teams to ensure the successful delivery of the Western Australian (WA) Department of Water and Environmental Regulation’s Water Online Platform, transforming the state’s water management
  • Prepared modelling for new logistics capabilities for an industrial business, expanding market reach by 2.5 million square kilometres (250%) and underwriting a $20 million capacity increase
  • Developed the digital transformation strategy for a government agency supporting the judicial system, including financial analysis and business case to demonstrate feasibility
  • Reviewed a natural gas producer’s distribution processes; implementing new or improving existing business systems to mitigate commercial risk and business operating efficiency.

Outside of Nous

Prior to joining Nous, Michael was a senior consultant in NEC Australia’s Strategic Consulting division, where he was responsible for defining digital strategy and transformation programs for clients in the private and public sectors. Prior roles include commercial and technology leadership roles with Wesfarmers. In these roles, Michael was involved in capital investment decisions, leading strategic planning processes, managing operational and project teams, and executing technology strategy.

Michael is a non-executive director and the treasurer of Kalparrin; WA’s largest community of families caring for children with disability and additional needs. He holds a Bachelor of Business (Finance and Information Management) from Edith Cowan University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of WA. He is also a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

In his spare time...

Michael enjoys exploring nature, cycling by the coast, and spending time with his sons and wife. He loves a laugh from stand-up comedy and may one day have a crack.
