Milly has extensive experience across public policy issues and sectors including consumer law, insurance markets and family medicine. Her experience in policy-making stems from working in central and line agencies, as well as from campaigning for policy reform on behalf of an industry body. Milly has recently returned from the UK, where she worked for an industry body within the health sector. Her most recent Australian experience was working as a senior policy officer for the New South Wales (NSW) Department of Premier and Cabinet.

Influential work

  • Led the launch of Think GP, a campaign that promoted general practice as a career to medical students in the UK, increasing general practitioner (GP) recruitment
  • Identified the need for and lobbied for additional resources to support the retention of experienced GPs, secured media coverage and government commitment to act, then worked with the National Health Services in England to design a pilot scheme that has been rolled out across England to offer more flexible work options for GPs nearing retirement
  • Was part of the team that successfully campaigned for and secured an additional £2.4 billion in funding for general practice in the UK
  • Delivered a major research project on barriers to firm internationalisation in New Zealand
  • Managed cabinet items across a number of high profile portfolios for the NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet, including ensuring government priorities were delivered and policy quality assured.

Outside of Nous

Before joining Nous, Milly worked for an industry body in the health sector in the UK. Her most recent role in Australia was at the NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet. She holds Bachelors of Arts (economics) and Commerce (marketing) from The University of Otago.

In her spare time...

Milly loves surfing, camping and hiking. She is a sports fan, particularly rugby, and loves to travel. She looks forward to exploring Victoria and barracking for an Australian Football League team.
