Paul leads Nous’ Queensland office and is expert in organisational performance and financial services. He is a sought-after adviser and thought leader to strategy, operations and human resources (HR) executives in the public and private sectors. He brings extensive experience in large-scale organisational performance improvement, particularly in financial and government services. Paul has held senior roles in professional services and large corporations and so offers his clients consulting expertise and industry depth.

Influential work

  • Guided the transformation of an Australian Securities Exchange listed energy company as it successfully outsourced and off shored its back office retail functions
  • Reviewed a central agency’s operating model to refocus its service delivery to better align with its strategic imperative
  • Partnered with the chief executive and chair of an economic development agency to design its measurement and client service model to ensure activities were aligned with business priorities
  • Designed and delivered a middle management leadership and coaching program that increased employee engagement by 22% over 18 months
  • Led a strategic cost management program for a mid-size financial services organisation achieving over $10 million in cost saving through better procurement, recruitment and program management.

Outside of Nous

Before joining Nous, Paul was the chief operating officer at QIC and the Workforce Strategies consulting practice lead at Mercer. Prior to that he was the director of performance measurement and HR at the Queensland Department of Education and Training.

Paul holds qualifications in arts from Griffith University, in education from Queensland University of Technology and James Cook University, and in counselling from the University of Queensland.

Paul is currently a non-executive director of Porters Pty Ltd, trustee and non-executive director and deputy-chair of Pathways to Resilience Trust, and a member of The Australian Institute of Company Directors and The Australian Human Resources Institute.

In his spare time...

Paul enjoys the outdoors including running, and road cycling. In quieter times he enjoys the beach, music and theatre.
