Paulo is a highly-experienced adviser and thought leader to strategy, operations and IT executives across the private and public sectors. He brings extensive experience in corporate strategy, operations transformation, performance improvement and digital transformation. Besides seventeen years of consulting experience, Paulo has held senior executive roles including chief operating officer (COO), chief strategy officer (CSO), interim chief financial officer, interim sales director and head of professional services; and so offers his clients consulting expertise, industry depth and implementation experience – tempered with strong change management nous.

Influential work

  • Established a business improvement unit for a major New South Wales Government department, transforming procurement and finance and establishing a risk unit and grants management framework
  • Reduced over $300M in costs for an Australian telecommunications company by reviewing activities, conducting gap analysis, defining drivers and identifying improvement opportunities
  • Identified and deployed cost reduction initiatives for a top-five global mining company and implemented a program management office system across mine sites in Australia, resulting in $100M in savings
  • Mapped, improved and automated a major internal previously-uncontrolled process for a major UK financial institution, removing exposure to millions of pounds in liability
  • Led the strategy review – including market sizing, projection modelling and market strategy definition – for a diversified Brazilian conglomerate that includes construction, engineering, cement, metals and mining.

Prior to joining Nous, Paulo was managing director at PRPenteado Consulting, COO at Leadbolt (Australia), senior director at Huron Consulting (UK), consultant at Partners in Performance (UK/USA), CSO and head of professional services at Beacon IT (Australia), engagement manager at McKinsey & Co (Brazil), manager at Deloitte (USA) and marketing manager and systems engineer at Seal Electronics (Brazil).

Paulo holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of California at Berkeley, a Diploma in Corporate Directorship from the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a Master of Art (Marketing) from the Escola Superior de Propaganda e Marketing, a Bachelor of Science (Electronics Engineering) from Universidade Mackenzie and also studied four years towards a Bachelor of Arts (Economic Sciences) at Universidade Mackenzie.

In his spare time...

Paulo enjoys travelling and discovering new places with his family. He enjoys swimming and participates in ocean swimming competitions. He is a fanatical rugby fan; having played, coached and refereed.
