Richard combines critical reasoning and qualitative skills, refined during legal practice, with the rigorous quantitative training of his engineering studies. He draws on experience from a variety of high-performing professional environments including in top-tier law, advisory firms and as a research assistant.

Influential work

  • Managed the legal due diligence allocation and request of information process for a proposed ~$1B retail joint venture
  • Assisted in preparing a bespoke Master Services Agreement (including subordinate schedules of work) for the procurement of essential software for a tier-one insurer
  • Assisted in drafting submissions for an expert determination relating to a ~$35M building variation claim
  • Supported the delivery of a climate change vulnerability assessment package tailored to port infrastructure in the Pacific that was published by the Cook Islands Ministry of Finance and Economic Management.

Outside of Nous

Prior to joining Nous, Richard worked across various sectors as a lawyer at MinterEllison. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil, Honours), a Bachelor of Law from the University of New South Wales and a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice. His studies included cross-institutional study at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and at the University of Uppsala in Sweden. As a student, Richard was elected to the board of directors of [email protected] Ltd and chaired the company’s audit and risk committee. He is a Certified Professional in Agile Project and Delivery Management (ICP-APM).

In his spare time...

Richard loves the outdoors, particularly hiking and trail running. He has an ever-growing appreciation for those skilled in keeping pot plants alive, Scandinavian crime drama and ironing.
