Steven is an enthusiastic problem-solver with a reputation for innovative process improvement. He has worked for the public and private sectors managing client services, contingency planning, corporate processes and finance functions. Steven is passionate about using data and stakeholder consultation to deliver enduring solutions.

Influential work

  • Created and piloted a strategy for transitioning passport and consular services provided by the Australian Government’s overseas missions to a cloud-based appointment system
  • Introduced a range of innovations that fundamentally eliminated unplanned customer interactions and wait times to the Australian Consulate-General in Hong Kong
  • Developed contingency plans to direct the government’s response in a political, consular or business continuity incident in Hong Kong or Macau
  • Identified new sources of analytical data to better inform decision-making on client services for an Australian overseas mission
  • Managed and reported on complex consular cases including high-profile cases of Australians arrested for drug trafficking.

Outside of Nous

Steven worked for the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Hong Kong as a consul, managing client and corporate services. His role included contingency planning and crisis response and in 2015 he was deployed to Nepal to lead a team assisting Australians stranded by the 2015 Nepal earthquake. Prior to his posting to Hong Kong, Steven worked in a variety of corporate roles in Canberra and Tarawa, Kiribati.

Steven worked as an accountant in the private practice while completing a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of International Studies. He is also a Certified Practising Accountant.

In his spare time...

Steven enjoys adventure, travel and exercise, and replenishing his burnt calories with copious amounts of food. He also enjoys crime novels, cooking and studying Spanish.
