Steven is experienced in strategy, organisational design and implementation for universities and government. His experience includes project management and team leader roles in strategy, client services and corporate processes. His ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholder groups was instrumental in resolving complex situations during overseas assignments with the Australian Public Service. Steven is co-chair of Nous’ LGBTIQ+ network, Nous Proud, and believes diversity and inclusion empowers employees to perform at their best.

Influential work

  • Developed vision and campus strategies, including supporting business cases, for Australian universities
  • Redesigned operating models for federal and state government departments in the health and human services sectors
  • Designed and implemented different models of the future of education for Australian universities
  • Led the redesign of client and corporate service delivery for an Australian Government overseas mission
  • Managed contingency planning and crisis response for the Australian Government overseas.

Outside of Nous

Steven worked for the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Hong Kong as a consul, managing client and corporate services. His role included contingency planning and crisis response, and in 2015 he was deployed to Nepal to lead a team assisting Australians stranded by the 2015 Nepal earthquake. Prior to his posting to Hong Kong, Steven worked in a variety of corporate roles in Canberra and Tarawa, Kiribati.

Steven holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) and a Bachelor of International Studies from Flinders University. He is a Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) Australia member.

In his spare time...

Steven enjoys adventure, crime novels, travel and exercise. He has recently transferred to a Sydney Surf Life Saving Club after many years as a member in South Australia.
