Tamara’s work combines strategic and holistic thinking, experience in community-based project development and implementation, knowledge about the complex relationships between people and their socio-ecological environments, and effective management skills. Prior to joining Nous she predominantly worked with community and Aboriginal groups in Australia across the interconnecting areas of environment, culture, health, and employment. She has experience working with and for not-for-profit, native title and government organisations.

Influential work

  • Designed, implemented and managed a 12-month research project investigating the evolution of the form and function of Indigenous Protected Areas and the Federal Government’s Indigenous Protected Area program.
  • Co-designed and facilitated workshops on the topic of Shale Gas for Yamatji Marlpa Aboriginal Corporation’s clients in the mid-west and Gascoyne regions of Western Australia (WA)
  • Assisted senior executives in developing the strategic direction for the biodiversity, culture and heritage unit within Yamatji Marlpa Aboriginal Corporation
  • Designed, implemented and managed a carbon farming exploration project in partnership with a local Aboriginal group in WA’s mid-west
  • Designed a traditional ecological knowledge-gathering and renewal project in partnership with a local Aboriginal group in WA’s Pilbara region.

Outside of Nous

Tamara previously worked for the Department of Parks and Wildlife. More recently, she worked with the Yamatji and Marlpa Aboriginal peoples through her position as project coordinator for the native title representative body Yamatji Marlpa Aboriginal Corporation.

Tamara holds a Master of Philosophy in Geography and the Environment from The University of Oxford and a Bachelor of Science (Environmental Management) with Honours from Edith Cowan University.

In her spare time...

Tamara loves nothing more than spending her free time camping and fishing. She is also a history nerd and enjoys exploring the world and learning about different cultures.
