Tom is a strong analyst and communicator who specialises in strategy and transformation and has successfully led large, complex projects from strategic analysis to implementation. His experience spans both public and private sectors, enabling him to leverage insights from different industries. He has significant expertise in higher education, central government, minerals and resources and manufacturing. Tom’s innate intellectual curiosity and enthusiasm allows him to develop insights that can be embraced by organisations and readily implemented by staff.

Influential work

  • Developed a major five-year growth and diversity strategy for a leading ‘Group of Eight’ university, including a capital investment plan to enable efficient growth
  • Led a multi-jurisdictional client team to identify best practices for competition policy reform in regional and remote Australia, informing a major intergovernmental agreement on competition reform
  • Directed modelling and stakeholder engagement for a business transformation at a large Australian resources company, identifying over $100M in cost savings that resulted in a turnaround in business performance
  • Managed the project management office for a major business transformation at a large Australian company, coordinating teams across multiple sites to identify hundreds of millions of dollars in cost savings.

Outside of Nous

Before joining Nous, Tom was a consultant at McKinsey and Company’s Melbourne office. He has also held executive leadership roles in the not-for-profit sector, including as chief executive officer of The Oaktree Foundation. Under Tom’s leadership, The Oaktree Foundation won the 2010 United Nations International Youth Leadership Award.

Tom has previously been named Young Victorian of the Year and one of AFR Boss Magazine’s ‘Eight Change Innovators’.

Tom holds Bachelors of Arts (Political Science) and of Laws (Honours) from The University of Melbourne, where he was a National Scholar.
