Tom is a Chartered Accountant who has more than 10 years of experience across the health care sector and consulting to government, not-for-profit organisations (NFPs), universities and some of Australia’s largest private sector organisations. He blends financial and data modelling expertise with an engaging facilitation and expert project management style to deliver tailored solutions in large and complex projects. He recently worked in Toronto to help set up Nous’ newest office and was Nous’ Head of Knowledge Management.

Influential work

  • Managed the development of a cross-border regional health and social services plan, including a new hospital, working across three levels of government to gain funding approval
  • Developed a 20-year renewable energy investment model for a major utilities provider, leading to a change in strategic direction and organisational restructure to focus on renewables and storage
  • Evaluated the pilot of telehealth services for regional veterans, blending quantitative and qualitative data to provide a clear recommendation on ongoing community support
  • Project-managed the development of business cases for two new justice facilities in regional Victorian cities, undertaking detailed cost-benefit analysis and stakeholder engagement to design Treasury-ready documents that have received over $500m in total funding
  • Built and coordinated the ongoing use of a benefits-tracking tool for 30 departments of one Australia’s largest NFP organisation, enabling over $40 million in annual savings.

Outside of Nous

Before joining Nous, Tom spent four years working at PwC in financial and carbon assurance, and was a laboratory technician for a pathology service. During his time at PwC he completed a Graduate Diploma in Chartered Accounting, adding expertise in accounting to his economics and finance knowledge. Tom has since been developing his skills across a range of digital applications including Power BI and R and building on his understanding of the application of human-centered design.

Tom also holds a Bachelor of Commerce (economics and finance) and a Bachelor of Arts (French and creative writing) from The University of Melbourne.

Tom can usually be found on a bike, either racing, climbing a hill or exploring bike paths with his family.
