Umair is a seasoned management consultant who draws on deep experience in public policy, national development and strategy formulation. He has been involved in large-scale public sector transformation projects in a variety of industries, including health and education. He has also counseled leading technology companies on their go-to-market strategies and navigating heavily regulated industries. Umair brings strong analytical capabilities and leverages his skills to drive sustainable long-term impact for clients.

  • Worked on a national licensing reform project for a large public sector client in the Middle East, simplifying the business licensing processes to boost foreign direct investment
  • Developed a high-level strategy for the digital transformation of core banking operations for a large private sector bank
  • Provided guidance on setting up a National Freezone Authority for a Gulf country, including designing the business processes
  • Worked on the communications strategy for a top global technology company, including drafting talking points and preparing the client for engagements with world leaders at the 2019 World Economic Forum
  • Devised engagement strategies for a large ridesharing company to engage with regulators, seek financial concessions and obtain legal cover for operations in the Middle East and North Africa.

Outside of Nous

Before joining Nous, Umair worked as a strategy consultant at Monitor Deloitte Dubai. Prior to that, he worked as a strategy analyst at a Dubai-based boutique consulting firm. Before moving to the Middle East, Umair obtained his graduate degree from Brown University in the US, where he also interned in various capacities in think tanks and not-for-profit organizations.

Umair holds a Master of Public Affairs from Brown University and a Bachelor (Honours) of Political Science from Lahore University of Management Science. He is involved in the Brown University undergraduate admissions process, serving as a member of the Brown University Alumni Interviewing Committee.

Umair likes to explore and try out new restaurants and cuisines, travel locally and regionally, and spend time with family.
